The Little Book of Big Imaginations
The Little Book of Big Imaginations is the result of a story writing competition held last year to celebrate the achievements of children living with foster carers, showcase their writing talent and allow them the opportunity to express their thoughts and emotions.
The book was compiled and published by The Fostering Network member, Fostering People. You can read the book.
The First Visit, by Sophie aged 11
It was there right in front of me! Should I go? Or should I stay? I looked up, It was beautiful, wonderful. And I stood so amazed as it towered over me. That’s it I’m going in. I took one step and my spine shivered, it felt like someone was trying to push me away. Oh it is so beautiful, as I looked up I saw a chandelier of diamonds. The whole building shimmered and shined. Then again a cold shiver struck my spine once more and I took one glimpse over my shoulder.
Then I saw it, I turned my head away, I looked back again and it was gone. I stopped! “You came now you pay” Whispered a voice. I sharply turned towards the door, but it shut. I was terrified! I was there all alone, but I thought the real question was ... was I?
Suddenly something blocked the light coming from the window. Taking one step, I saw a long cloaked figure running up the steps. Of course I had to follow it. As I ran up the steps I fell, and I couldn’t remember what had happened. Next thing I knew I was up the stairs in this cold room. I opened my eyes and there she was standing with her back to me. There was a crown on her head and she was in a beautiful dress, with a silver cloak. Why was she here by herself?
When I stood up I bowed. “Your majesty” I said. She turned around and I saw the most horrifying face, the body of a princess and the face of the devil. Being so shocked I fell back on the floor, shuffling back, as she was coming closer and closer. Then suddenly her lips moved and whispered “you die.” I screamed and then she was gone. This was my chance, I ran down the steps and out the door. I turned round to take one last look at this palace of crystal thinking “I will never forget this.”
I turned round and ran down the hill, I blinked and I was running through my bedroom door into bed.
The following day we visited the Disney Princesses and were all amazed at their beauty. We spoke to them all, but nobody else seemed to see or didn’t recognise one of them in the silver cloak who smiled at me.
