Last weekend 15 adventurers including foster carers conquered the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, to raise £4,000 to support the ongoing work of The Fostering Network.

It wasn’t the first adventure with the charity for climber and foster care Stewart Duncan, who said: “Having been with The Fostering Network in Peru to walk the Inca Trail and then Nepal trekking the Annapurnas in the shadow of Everest, it made perfect sense for me to take up the challenge of climbing Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland and the UK. The Fostering Network has given me, and my family, huge support over the last 15 years and I saw raising much needed funds through these events as a fitting return. What next I hear you say?”

Tony Round, head of fundraising at The Fostering Network, said: “We are so grateful to all of the people who pushed themselves about 4,409 feet out of their comfort zone!

“Foster carers know first-hand the difference that The Fostering Network can make, the services we can provide and how we keep pushing to make life better for them, their families and the children they care for. And so it’s fantastic to have them out and about climbing, walking, running and hiking to support us in keeping on making that difference.”
