Being a foster carer
Foster carers do a fantastic job, but it can also be a challenging and complex role with annual reviews, ongoing learning and development, liaison with social workers and others who work with children such as education and health professionals, and facilitating contact with birth families.
Before becoming foster carers, everyone in the household, including the sons and daughters of foster carers, needs to be committed to fostering.
Foster carers are part of what’s often termed ‘the team around the child’ which is responsible for the wellbeing and development of a fostered child.
