Creator of Tracy Beaker, and long-time supporter of The Fostering Network, author Jacqueline Wilson is to judge the 2014 Sons and Daughters campaign creative writing competition.
 
The competition is for the sons and daughters of foster carer members of The Fostering Network, and the fostered children and young people who live with them. 

A prize of a £25 voucher will be awarded to the writer of the best poem or short story, as decided by Jacqueline, in each of the following three age categories: 5-9 years, 10-14 years, 15-18 years.
 
Jackie Sanders, director of communications and public affairs at The Fostering Network, said: “Jacqueline is an icon of children’s literature. Her stories show that she has a real understanding of, and empathy for, children with a wide range of family experiences.
 
“Having Jacqueline judge the competition is a great opportunity for children and young people to have their poetry and short stories read by an award-winning author, and we're encouraging as many as possible to enter.”
 
Our Sons and Daughters campaign, which takes place in October, celebrates the contribution which the children of foster carers make to foster care.
