  • The Fostering Network has released its latest statistical findings on the recruitment and retention of foster carers in England. The report Local Authority Fostering Services in England - performance benchmark report 2013/14, has been produced in conjunction with partners iMPOWER Consulting, and funded as part of a two year project by the Department for Education. 

  • Why foster carers care: part 2, produced by The Fostering Network in partnership with consultancy iMPOWER as part of the Department for Education funded project to support fostering services to recruit more foster carers, uses a system for identifying individuals’ values in order to explore in depth the actions and attitudes of foster carers.

    Using this Values Modes™ approach, the population of newly approved* foster carers was found to be:

    Using this Values Modes™ approach, the population of newly approved foster carers was found to be:

  • Confidence in Care will transform outcomes for looked after children in Wales over the next five years and influence the way children’s social care is delivered across the country for many more years to come. This will primarily be achieved through the training of 1,500 foster, kinship and residential carers using the Fostering Changes Programme.

  • The Fostering Network Wales is pleased that the National Assembly for Wales recommendations to the Welsh Government has put a renewed focus on support for care leavers seeking employment, following our response to the National Assembly’s Enterprise and Business Committee’s inquiry on assisting young people into work last November. 

  • The Fostering Network Wales has submitted its response to the Welsh Government’s consultation Talk to me 2: Draft Suicide and Self Harm Prevention Strategy and Action Plan for Wales, where we have set out the specific needs of children and young people in care and care leavers, and the importance of working with foster carers in addressing suicide and self-harm.

  • The UK’s leading fostering charity, The Fostering Network, is pleased to announce that Kevin Williams will be taking up the role of chief executive in early summer 2015.

  • LGBT Adoption and Fostering Week 2015 is taking place from Monday 2 March to Sunday 8 March 2015, and is run by the UK’s largest network for LGBT adopter’s and foster carers, the charity New Family Social.
