A workforce strategy for health and social care (Wales)
The Fostering Network welcomes the development of a long-term workforce strategy for health and social care. We fully support the vision of the draft strategy and the belief set out in the foreword of the strategy that ‘we need to see what we spend on our workforce as an investment not a cost’.
Free childcare for foster carers (England and Wales)
30 hours free childcare in England
The Government in England is extending 30 hours free childcare for three and four-year-olds to children in foster care. Read more about how and why we campaigned for foster carers to be able to access these hours. Foster carers who work outside of their fostering role will have access to 30 hours free childcare for three-and-four-year-olds from September 2018, giving them the same access to support as other working families.
Fostering Excellence Masterclasses
Year 1 (2016 - 2017) masterclasses focused on the theme of building resilience and understanding attachment.
Developed for foster carers, social workers, and designated teachers, the masterclasses delivered further learning on attachment theory, explaining how and why insecure attachments can impact learning, and how teachers and schools can support vulnerable learners and build resilience by being attachment aware.
