When I Am Ready

From April 2016, young people in Wales will have a right to stay with their foster families beyond the age of 18, known as the When I am Ready scheme. This change to the law came into force with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, and is the result of a joint campaign between The Fostering Network and Action for Children.

Delivering a service that meets your needs

Independent support services can be provided for your foster carers in a variety of ways.

In England, this is through our advice and mediation and independent support services.

In Wales, this is through our independent support service.

Step Up Step Down

 

About Step Up Step Down

The programme gives parents the support of a foster carer who can ‘step up’ if the family needs additional support and ‘step down’ when parents are in a better place to support their children.
